Cold gas dynamic spray (CS) is a unique technique for depositing material using high-strain-rate solid-state deformation. A major challenge this its dependence on the powder’s properties, and another lack of standards assessing them between lots manufacturers. The motivation research was to understand variability in powder atomization techniques stainless steel powders their subsequent properties corresponding impacts CS. drastic difference (~30%) observed deposition efficiencies (DEs) unaltered, spherical similar sized (316) produced centrifugal (C.A) traditional (G.A) techniques. study highlights more differences precursor level. Using recent advancements large scale statistical measurements, such as laser diffraction shape analysis µCT scanning; methods, EBSD nanoindentation, an attempt made properties.
